Needlework Patterns

Needlework is a great hobby that has countless interesting patterns for different types of needlework projects. Needlework projects include anything involving counted cross stitching, crewel, embroidery, or needlepoint. Once you have picked the type of needlework project that you want to do, you then need to choose a pattern. Sampler patterns are great for anyone just starting to learn the craft. Samplers will teach you different stitches, while enabling you to practice different techniques, until you are comfortable enough to tackle a more difficult pattern.

Once you are comfortable with the basics of the needlework craft, you are ready to find a more complex pattern. There are patterns for any type of project that you may be interested in doing. Children’s patterns are colorful and whimsical and very fun to create. If you are an animal lover you can find both realistic pictures of your favorite animals, or more colorful cartoon like versions. If you enjoy landscapes you can stitch individual flowers with great detail, or beautiful fields filled with flowers and gardens. If you appreciate fine art you can stitch recreations of famous paintings or other artwork.

Another type of pattern that you can stitch easily are geometrics. Using a combination of dark and light threads you can give your needlework project depth and design using geometric patterns. Another fun needlework project involves Asian, African, or Persian patterns that can be stitched in various colors and designs. These types of patterns can be worked up to be as large or small as you want. They can be worked into a rug, a wall hanging, or a throw for your bed. These patterns can also be worked with colors that match your room's decor, or you can add a splash of color to a corner that needs it.
