Making Money From Your Crafts

Need some extra money and feeling crafty? There are numerous ways to earn money while you do your favorite craft or hobby. If you choose a craft that you enjoy doing, the time passes faster and you will be happier and more likely to stay at the task.

If you start out finding low cost supplies in bulk or at a whole sale price you can produce more product for less. Time yourself on how long it takes to make the craft so that you know how much to charge. You do not want the craft to consume more time and materials than you are able to sell it for. You are now ready to make enough product to have a large inventory to put on display.

Think about the best way to display your item to its best advantage for the area that you will be selling it. Consider options like a booth at an outdoor market, swap meet, craft fair or a home show. Would pretty covered tables, shelves, or racks be better? A pleasing and interesting display will draw more buyers to you area.

Putting your craft in a store that has booth rental for a commission or a percentage of sales is also a way to make money, as your overhead is low. If you have found craft supplies in bulk you can sell supplies to other crafters at a markup. You can personalize your craft so that your customers can order them to be given as gifts, making them feel like your creations are one of a kind. Take your time. Find a craft that you enjoy spending time doing and is cost effective. Everyone enjoys cherishing handmade items.
