Crafts for Children

Crafts are fun for us and they can also be for the children in our lives. With the right craft pattern and a little bit of supervision, kids can create precious keepsakes. It makes them feel so good, too! Here are a couple of craft ideas (in different age groups) that you can do with children.

Pine Cone Angels are pretty angel ornaments to hang on your Christmas tree. They're great crafts for kids in the preschool-kindergarten range.

The supplies you will need for this craft: pinecones, acorns, boll from a cotton plant, craft paint and ribbon.

First, hot glue an acorn to the top on a pine cone. Then hot glue a boll from cotton plant to back for wings. If you don't have boll, just make wings from heavy construction paper. Paint the eyes, nose and mouth on the front of the acorn. Last, the ribbon - make a small bow from ribbon and glue to neck. Glue a ribbon to the back for hanging.

Another thing you can make is a pom pom frame, which is good for children six and up. This is fun to use for school photos. Use a plain frame, paint it, add pom poms and name it.

The supplies you will need for this craft include an empty frame, which you can get from any craft store, acrylic paint, pom poms and raised-type craft letters.

First, you will paint your frame, two coats are usually needed, and let dry. Next, arrange pom poms and hot glue to frame. Add the letters of the name of the person that will be in the picture. Add sparkles and other pretty additions if you like. Frame a picture and admire when you're done.
